My name is Alexina Pilo. I am a second year double majoring in Educational Sciences and Psychology and Social Behavior. My path for the future is still unclear, but I hope to one day join the army as a psychologist and work with our soldiers who are suffering with things such as PTSD while working to get my masters in psychopathology. I hope to eventually work with special needs children and adults.

Hello Class!!

Since attending UCI I have realized how much my friends and family play a role in my life. Being so far away from my home in Boston makes me cherish the conversations and moments I have with my family even more than I did before. The new friendships I have made has greatly impacted my time here at UCI and the old ones that I continue to hold makes me so grateful for the amazing people I have in my life.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support from my family and friends. I am so happy they have been able to see and experience some of the amazing places and things I have seen. I hope to continue on with my journey throughout life and see more amazing things and meet more amazing people.

Assignment Two

With school, work and my internship I am always busy and running around. I feel with this blog assignment I had the chance to stop and look at the beautiful things around me. Throughout my day I am so distracted with all that I am doing I forget how beautiful simply things in life can be.

When taking these photographs I tried my best to focus on the things we learned in class like the rule of thirds. In most of my pictures I tried to capture different light intensity’s and hues.

Assignment Three

When I was younger I was really into Disney Mania, The Backstreet Boys, and the Now CD’s. Growing up I think that the musical tastes of others at my school did play a significant impact on what I listened to because the students at my school is who I was with most. I think that music and popular culture had a big impact on me as well as some other students. If I were to become a teacher I think I would introduce all types of music into my classroom to create a bridge between generations and make lessons more engaging.

Learning With The Arts

When I was younger the TV shows that were most interesting to me were the ones that included some type of animation. I also loved books that included magic or mythical creatures. I was strongly inspired by Kim Possible because I wanted to help save the world like she did. I think I learned from it how much children look up to certain characters or people. I think that media can play a big role on their perception of things.

Some meaningful experiences that I have experienced so far would be traveling, swimming, horseback riding, playing piano, and doing yoga. These experiences have had a great impact on my life because they have all helped shaped the person that I am today. I think that these experiences have built my confidence and have helped form a connection with people. These experiences have lead me to build new friendships and have helped me build on my current ones. I think without these experiences I would not be the same person that I am.
